Treatment Modalities

Our integrative treatment plans draw from the following modalities:

Attachment-Focused Treatment

Attachment-Focused Treatment is grounded in attachment theory, the neurobiology of interpersonal experience, and uses methods and principles from Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy is an evidence-based, effective, and empirically validated treatment that is grounded in current thinking and research on the etiology and treatment of Complex Trauma or Developmental Trauma Disorder and disorders of attachment. It is now recognized as a general approach to treatment. Treatment is primarily experiential. Teaching parents about attachment-facilitating parenting methods and the importance of attunement and responsive, sensitive parenting is essential.

Theraplay®

Theraplay® is a child and family therapy for building and enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement. It is based on the natural patterns of playful, healthy interaction between parent and child and is personal, physical, and fun. Theraplay® interactions focus on four essential qualities found in parent-child relationships: Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge. Theraplay® sessions create an active, emotional connection between the child and parent or caregiver, resulting in a changed view of the self as worthy and lovable and of relationships as positive and rewarding.

Circle of Security Parenting®

Circle of Security Parenting® is a relationship based early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children.

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a mindfulness based treatment that focuses on developing skills in the areas of emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. It has been demonstrated to be effective for people struggling with mood and anxiety disorders, impulsive and addictive behaviors, and trauma.

Attachment-Focused Family Therapy

Attachment-Focused Family Therapy facilitates the neuropsychological development of family members by facilitating their readiness and ability to become engaged with each other in reciprocal, attuned, affective, and reflective interactions.

Ecotherapy

Ecotherapy can be described as utilizing our personal encounter with nature for the purpose of experiencing psychological healing. Nature enlivens the senses and draws us into the present giving us an opportunity to get in touch with our quieter self. Being away from the distractions and diversions of daily life. Nature can bring us a sense of self not easily found in the busyness of today.
